BANTEAY MEANCHEY: Two Thai Border Patrol helicopters (CHD 125) flew into Cambodian airspace at a depth of about 200 meters at the target point of Chan Kiri in Phnom Rong village, Boeung Beng commune, Malai district, Banteay Meanchey province, at 3:22 PM on Monday. This is according to a report from the Border Police at station No. 815.

The Commander of the 815th Border Police, Colonel Suong Sao, said that two Thai Border Patrol helicopters, including one during border inspection, flew into Cambodian territory at Chan Kiri target point in Phnom Rong village, Boeung Beng commune in the Malai district of Banteay Meanchey province, at a depth of about 200 meters, height of 400 meters, and was moving in a direction from the north to south, with Derm Knol in Chrey village of Boeung Beng commune as the target. The helicopters traveled a distance of about 2 kilometers before turning back into Thai territory.

Colonol Suong Sao stated that Cambodian border police still do not know the main reason for this cross-border flight, but after questioning the Thai Border Patrol Commander at the 125th station, the Thai side had apologized for flying over Cambodian territory.

In October 2012, Thai military helicopters also flew into Cambodian territory in the Tamin area of Koh Kong province, while Cambodian border forces fired warning shots in response.
